Prayer Focus for Our Community

St Barnabas is a church that believes in the power of prayer to make a positive impact on the lives of those who are the focus of that prayer. We have been developing a prayer ministry amongst our regular church members and now hold regular services which include prayer for healing and wholeness. As your parish church, we are now extending our prayer ministry to include prayer for you, our local community, and for the problems that are affecting your lives.

It is difficult to focus on the people or issues affecting our community unless we are told who or what they are, but our aim is to pray regularly for specific roads within the parish on a rotating basis and we will highlight which roads are the focus of our prayer here and/or in church, on our weekly newsletter.

In April/May we are praying for all who are affected by the current coronavirus epidemic, for the recovery of all who become ill, for those that look after them and for the families that have lost loved ones. We pray for wisdom, patience and resilience for all who find themselves in isolation or who live alone and have no one to share their worries. We pray particularly for all of the children and young people who find their schools and colleges closed and for the anxiety that they are feeling. We pray too for all of the people worried about their jobs, or the household bills, or how they will manage to feed themselves or their family

We give thanks for the hard work and dedication of everyone who works in our healthcare service or who is a carer looking after the more vulnerable members of our society, whether young or old and pray for their protection.  We pray for all who are keeping our civil society functioning, from our emergency services, transport workers, delivery drivers and shop keepers/workers to our civil servants who are dealing with a the constantly changing administration of government directives. Finally we pray for our government and all who hold the key positions in the battle to control the spread of this disease and in the provision of support for all who have been affected, asking for courage, wisdom and determination to do what is right for our nation at this time.

Lord, hear our prayers.

If you have specific family or personal needs that we can pray for, please contact us either by leaving a message on our office telephone 01689821353 or by email to prayer@st-barnabas-cray.org.uk
