St Barnabas church is close to the shops in Cotmandene Crescent but, although its green roof is clearly visible from a distance, remains hidden from view until reaching the brow of the hill after turning into Rushet Road. Access to Rushet Road is also possible from Chipperfield Road via Ravenscourt Road.
By Road:
To reach us from the M25, either leave the motorway at Junction 3 and take the A20 towards London, then the A224 (Sevenoaks Way) for Orpington, or leave at Junction 4 and take the A224 northwards past Orpington. In both cases turn into Broomwood Road at the McDonald’s restaurant and drive up the hill, turning left into Rushet Road just before the shops.
There is ample car parking behind the church using the drive just before the church hall.
By Rail:
Our nearest mainline railway station is St Mary Cray, which is only a short walk away, but there is a frequent bus service from Orpington or Sidcup stations.
By Bus:
The church is not directly on a bus route, but can be easily reached using services 51, B14, R1 and R11.
The 51 bus from both the Sidcup and Orpington directions stops on Sevenoaks Way outside of the McDonald’s restaurant. Walk up Broomwood Road and then left into Rushet Road at the top of the hill.
The B14, R1 and R11 services from both Orpington and St Paul’s Cray/Sidcup directions stop close to each other at Cotmandene Crescent or King’s Church Centre. Walk up Cotmandene Crescent, past our local shops, or along St Peter’s Lane, adjacent to the Ambulance Station, and turn right into Rushet Road. St Barnabas church is a short distance away at the brow of the hill.
